The provisions of this section do not apply to community parks, public non-profit aquariums or zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or the Zoological Association of America, nature centers, museums or exhibitors approved or registered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, or laboratories and research facilities operated by scientific or educational institutions. licensed or registered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. any veterinarian licensed for the purpose of treating and caring for such animal or any person who owns a breed of felids certified by the International Cat Association, the Cat Fanciers Association or the American Cat Fanciers Association. Since 2013, every generation of savannah cats is legal in Connecticut. Must obtain a permit for all big cats, clouds, snow, cheetahs and mountain lions. May obtain personal possession or reproduction or exhibition permits.
Requires liability insurance of $100,000 per animal, a health certificate of $300.00 per animal for an annual fee.
