Employees respond to telephone, written and personal inquiries about human resources programs. Customer service staff also assist customers in registering for DEERS and issuing their identification cards. Building 402 Finance Client Services provides military, civilian and travel payment services to all active employees. Some services may be limited to requests depending on the branch of the service. Limited service is also available for retired Air Force members. The Financial Services Branch will process all newcomers as part of their initial basic treatment appointment. The thrift store accepts almost everything sold on commission, except firearms or flammable items. In addition to Texas and local sales taxes, a 15% commission is charged. Items on sale can be placed in the thrift store for up to three months. All proceeds from the sale are donated to scholarship funds for registered spouse and officer clubs. Volunteers run the shop and are always needed. It is located next to the Commissioner, in Building 125. Lawyers are available for legal advice. They also prepare wills, living wills and medical powers of attorney. Powers of attorney and notarial services are available during office hours. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official relief organization of the United States Air Force. It is open to all U.S.
citizens. The cadet program is open to youth who have completed grade six and are between the ages of 12 and 18. CAP`s mission is air search and rescue, rescue services, aerospace training and the cadet program. The Rio del Fierro composite squadron meets every Thursday at 7pm at the CAP office. He wears work uniforms for the Navy and digital camouflage for the Marines and badges for all services. He also wears a full range of boots and shoes. Customers can use the in-store red direct dial phone to order Navy and Navy uniforms and have them shipped quickly. Membership is open to all military and civilian employees. The Base Postal Centre provides postal services to eligible military personnel. It receives delivery of all classes of mail addressed to residents of dormitories. Hours of operation are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satellite mail centers are located in many dormitories.
