There are 3 brands of legal sugarcane tampons that I know of and all of them are good. Staples and Office Depot do, the links are below. There is a 3rd brand called Canefields which is available on Amazon. Attached is a link to my review. I discovered that Made in USA Ampad Retro is better and cheaper. for 5×8. However, he has a tooth where the virtuoso is quite smooth. The key is Made in USA. Ampad has been bought, sold, traded so many times, who knows what you`ll get now. as has been mentioned here.
I don`t know about the 8 1/2 x 11…err 11 3/4. The only thing I don`t like about the Virtuo 5×8 is the amount of showthrough. No blood circulation. It`s one-sided anyway, but I still don`t like it very much. I don`t see either size as great value for money, without the discount I got. It`s not cheap. Tony – check the Office Depot/Office Max in your city and check if they have legal stamps of a brand called Black and Red. The paper is excellent, it worked very well with my pens, also with the Pelikan M1000, which writes really wet. A friend just showed me a two-notebook, letter-sized package he bought from Office Max today. Great suggestions guys.
I have a few Rhodia pads along the way, but I`ll definitely check out those other options. www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/289981-really-jazzed-about-cane-fields-sugar-cane-legal-pads/ good! So I decided to risk it and open the biggest ivory pads and. The results are much better! There is still the occasional spring, but much rarer and fewer springs with the flexible spring. Also no blood circulation on the back. So it seems that, for some reason, large pads work better than small ones. I can post scans later. My favorites (until you see the price) are Docket Diamond. The paper is lined and deposited, it looks like a legal block, but it is stationary quality paper. I rarely write in a diary (yes, I know I need more), but rather on «legal» towels in leather shirts.
The one with the hard cardboard support? Can any of you recommend a good brand of paper that makes these types of stamps better suited for FP writing – as well as a good place to order them? I`ve included a few photos to give you an idea of what I`m looking for. The small pad is 5×8 and the big one is 8.5×11. Roaring Spring also makes a sugar cane notebook and this paper is good too, but I don`t know of any other brand of legal sugarcane tampons. Oh wow. They are likely to be hired. That`s terrible. This was my first legal block in favor of the fountain pen. It seems like you can still get them online. Rhodia makes excellent legal style pads, I like the ones with 3 holes that are already perforated – and they also make beautiful leather supports for them. Office max or Staples sugarcane brands are also well regarded here. If you search for FPN, you`ll find many previous threads with more suggestions. Good luck! I bet you have a Wal-Mart near you.
If you`re willing to buy there (I respect the wishes of those who decide not to), I`ve had great results with their OMNI Office tablets. I use the graphic lines, which are narrow on the back, and the finish is very FP friendly. The only caveat to these is that if your nib is a wet pen, it will likely be soaked in blood. However, I don`t use both sides, so I`m fine. And the price is fair – IIRC, the last ones I bought were on sale for less than $2 per pad (80 sheets/block). In general, sugarcane paper is quite fountain pen friendly, and sugarcane legal notebooks are considerably nicer to write than the paper used to make most legal blocks. On my F and EF springs shown – a Sailor EF, a Pilot EF and an Estie 9550 – there are still small feathers (the font may seem larger than it is because it is the smallest pad, not the size of the letter). It`s not bad with every ink and only unbearable with pure American Blue PR (the 50/50 mix with Grandma`s Blue wasn`t as bad). I haven`t returned the ivory yet, and while I`m disappointed I can`t fold on paper, I could just open the tampons and use them. I have read all over this forum that 20-book paper is difficult to use with a FP.
This is not the case by virtuoso. This is probably the best legal block you can have in a B&M. In fact, I like it more than Exacompta and Rhodia. There are undoubtedly much better things, but not if you go into OfficeMax from all places. The sad thing is that this is probably an «ephemeral» Jobbed brand of OfficeMax. So I asked the manager if I would buy 25 packages, if he would give me 20% discount and he said yes! YMMV, I guess it depends on the manager and the number you buy.
